Welcome
This site is a rally point for everyone involved in, or interested in the protests against Scientology in Scotland and worldwide. The anonymous movement as we know it today was sparked by this video on Youtube, on January 21st 2008. At Edinburgh and Glasgow, we have at least 100 active members that show up to our protests - there are 9000 worldwide. Our aim is simple and achievable - force the organisation of Scientology to end all abuse of its members, its critics, and the law. Scientology has a history of human rights abuses which you may find hard to believe. We suggest you visit youfoundthecard.com to gain a background knowledge of Scientology's abuses.
Who are Anonymous?
Anonymous is a loose group of people who stand against the Cult of Scientology and its effects on society. Anonymous isn't comprised of any specific group of people: it is made up of anyone who wishes to remain anonymous (due to Scientology's Fair Game policy, litigation-happy nature and renowned scare tactics) and fight against the cult. Anonymous come from all walks of life, be they a person who turns up and pickets outside a Scientology centre, a student who hands out fliers to his classmates, or a housewife who simply sends out emails to her friends.
We organise ourselves and make decisions through consensus. As such, any individual's positive contribution, be it thoughts, suggestions or grunt-work are valued. There is no hierarchy; one should look to oneself and other wise anons for answers. Every individual carries the responsibility of their own actions, but we also have Rules drafted by consensus. We only like peaceful people.
Why is Anonymous against Scientology?
Firstly, Anonymous support the right to free speech, and to believe in whatever you so wish. We are not against Scientologists themselves, nor their belief system, no matter how crazy it may seem to the outside world. We support these people in whatever they wish to believe, particularly if they find it helps them.
Anonymous is against the methods of Scientology, specifically amongst the higher levels, which include suppression of freedom of speech and ruining anyone who speaks out against the Church by suing, slandering, framing, bankrupting and even committing murder. Though these are radical claims, they can each be backed up with factual documents and reports and we urge anyone who is skeptical of these claims to research further from neutral and factual sources, which you can find in the Homework section.
You can view an unofficial list of our goals and demands from the What we want section.
Why do you wear masks?
Anonymous are against the Cult's suppression of information and free speech, and as such it may seem hypocritical that we wear masks and hide our identities. The reason that we do this, however, is due to Scientology's Fair Game policy, which states:
"The homes, property, places and abodes of persons who have been active in attempting to: suppress Scientology or Scientologists are all beyond any protection of Scientology Ethics, unless absolved by later Ethics or an amnesty ... this Policy Letter extends to suppressive non-Scientology wives and husbands and parents, or other family members or hostile groups or even close friends."
"SP's* May be deprived of property or injured by any means by any Scientologist without any discipline of the Scientologist. May be tricked, sued or lied to or destroyed."
SP stands for Suppressive Person (you may have heard this term from the Tom Cruise videos), which means any person or organization who speaks out against, or interferes with the profit of Scientology.
Of course a large part of why we wear masks is simply to give us some uniformity and to stand out. Many of our members simply hide their faces with scarves, sunglasses, etc. Many more still do not hide their faces at all.
